Linux Kernel 3.19 Has Reached To End With Last Release Kernel 3.19.8

Linux Kernel 3.19 has reached to End Of Life with the last release Linux Kernel 3.19.8. The last release comes with a number of fixes and released by Greg KH. As always he recommended to upgrade to Kernel 3.19.8. In this article I’m going to show you the changes made in this release and also how to upgrade to Kernel 3.19.8 in Ubuntu/Linux Mint and derivative systems.

This is the LAST 3.19.x kernel release, this series is now end of life. Please move to 4.0.x at this point in time.

Linux Kernel 3.19 life has been ended and the last release Kernel 3.19.8 comes with a small number of changes and bugs. But the problem is Kernel 3.19 is the default Kernel used in Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet and Debian 8. So the development probably will be carried on by Canonical because The Kernel Foundation will leave the development.

Download kernel files

$ wget kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.19.8-vivid/linux-image-3.19.8-031908-generic_3.19.8-031908.201505110938_i386.deb
Install Downloaded Kernel Files –
$ sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.19*.deb linux-image-3.19*.deb

Update grub and reboot the system –

$ sudo update-grub

$ sudo reboot

For Linux system 64-bit :

Download Kernel Files –

$ wget kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.19.8-vivid/linux-headers-3.19.8-031908_3.19.8-031908.201505110938_all.deb$ wget kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.19.8-vivid/linux-headers-3.19.8-031908-generic_3.19.8-031908.201505110938_amd64.deb

Install Downloaded Kernel Files –
$ sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.19*.deb linux-image-3.19*.deb

Update grub and reboot the system –
