ONLYOFFICE: Create a Single Workspace for All Your Documents on Linux

If you deal with a lot of documents every day storing them on different cloud storage services, like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and others, you might find ONLYOFFICE a very useful tool as it allows you to connect all your accounts, edit and even collaborate on your documents with others using the web-based document editors.

ONLYOFFICE is an open source project listed on GitHub, distributed under the terms of GNU AGPL v.3. With this Linux office suite, you can create, edit and collaborate on documents stored on different cloud services. Moreover, it comes with projects, mail, CRM, calendar, and community – all to organize your work online.  ​

ONLYOFFICE is designed as an alternative to MS Office Online and Google Docs. It offers a complete set of tools for creating and editing text documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with complex formatting.

​With ONLYOFFICE Document Editor you can format text, add links, tables, and charts, insert pictures, autoshapes, formulas or text objects, and manipulate them as you need, create a bulleted or numbered list, etc..

ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor offers more than 300 formulas and functions, allowing you to use named ranges, sort, and filter data, create charts, add links, pictures, etc..

If you’re a team, you can c-edit documents in real time choosing on of the co-editing modes: Fast (like in Google Docs) or Strict (when the changes appear after clicking the Save button only), comment and interact with others via chat, track changes, and review documents. How to Install ONLYOFFICE in Linux

You can install ONLYOFFICE on any Linux machine using the Docker script. Before you go ahead, please make you your machine meets the official system requirements. ​Then execute the following commands:

If you wish a mail server to be installed on your machine as well, use this command instead:

bash opensource-install.sh -md "yourdomain.com"

Where yourdomain.com is your own domain used for mail server.

To run ONLYOFFICE, just open your browser and enter the local network computer IP address.

How to Connect a Third-party Account to ONLYOFFICE

Go to the Settings section clicking the corresponding icon in the right upper corner. Switch to the Integration tab and open the Third Party Authorization page.

Select a service to give it the authorization and enter the required connection keys.

Now you can connect this service to your ONLYOFFICE account. Switch to the Documents module. ​

Click one of the icons under the ‘Add the account’ caption: Google, Box, DropBox, OneDrive, ownCloud or Add account. Log in and enter a title for a new folder to store the documents from your account.

Click the Save button.

In the same way, you can add any account you need. Now you can access and edit your documents stored on different accounts from one place.
