We've been listening news of adopting Open-source by several countries, organisations and companies. This time it's UK. The UK Government announced the deal with an open source company Collabora Office provides LibreOffice based Office suit "GovOffice".
Collabora Office Suit Is Based On LibreOffice
As more and more people are adopting open-source, specially Govt bodies, It will encourage smaller bodies to adopt the open-source too. There has been many news from the France that of adopting open source.
Collabora will also be releasing its cloud based services later this year. Govt official blog post affirms that the deal will provide more savings.

Collabora office GovOffice supports more than 100 formats, including Microsoft Office and Google Docs. GovOffice is based on one of the most popular office suits LibreOffice and will be able to open and edit documents from mobile devices to the web browsers directly. The deal covers all the Govt bodies, even the bodies work on behalf.
The deal covers both Collabora products, and applies to all non-profit making government organisations, including those working on behalf of government, either directly or via outsourcing.
